Under the supervision of the Library Director, the Head of Youth Services is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Youth Services Department. This includes directing activities such as reference, reader’s advisory, programming, and collection development. This position is also responsible for the supervision of Youth Services staff, practicum students, and volunteers. The Head of Youth Services is a member of the Management Team, who participates in library planning, policy-making, development of community partnerships, and serves as an operational supervisor in the absence of the Library Director.

Candidates for Head of Youth Services should have a demonstrated vision for how the public library functions as an essential place for building community.  Innovative thinking and fostering relationships with local partners are key to this role!

The ideal applicant will have completed a MLS from an ALA accredited institution, will be proficient in public instruction and presentations, will have two or more years of professional library employment, and a minimum of two years of supervisory experience. This is a full-time salaried position and includes evening hours and a regular weekend rotation.  The salary range for this position is $58,688 to $72,914 annually with a competitive benefits package.
