UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN-STEVENS POINT (UNIVERSITY LIBRARY) - Position: Serials and Interlibrary Loan Librarian  (Position#: 12-62F48)
Overview:
The University Library seeks an experienced and forward-thinking Serials and Interlibrary Loan Librarian to provide leadership and effective management for the Library’s serials resources and budget. The incumbent will also manage all aspects of Interlibrary Loan, including policy and planning. This librarian is responsible for supervising support staff and works with library faculty to meet the mission and goals of the University Library. This librarian also takes an active role in the Library’s instruction program, reference services, collection development, and participates fully in scholarship and service as a tenure-track library faculty member.
Responsibilities:
Serials and Interlibrary Loan
  • Oversee the selection, acquisition, assessment and deselection of print and electronic serials in consultation with departmental faculty. Keep abreast of curricular changes to develop serials resources in support of student and faculty needs.
  • Manage the serials budget. Coordinate annual renewal of all print and electronic library serials subscriptions. Serve as liaison to serials vendors.
  • Work with library faculty and staff to provide access to serials resources via the Library’s ILS (i.e., Voyager) and open-URL link resolver (i.e., SFX). Analyze usage data from these sources and vendor COUNTER reports.
  • Manage all aspects of interlibrary loan services, and maintain awareness of interlibrary loan-specific software/hardware platforms (i.e., ILLiad, Ariel). Monitor statistical and evaluative data and develop initiatives to assess and improve interlibrary loan services.
  • Develop and implement new content delivery services for patrons, including overseeing the ongoing purchase-on-demand program.
  • Provide knowledge of copyright law as applicable to interlibrary loan services. Maintain interlibrary loan policies and procedures in response to copyright law and student and faculty needs.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of best-practices, and participate in UW System and/or professional committees related to serials and interlibrary loan services.
  • Supervise Periodicals and Interlibrary Loan support staff.
Reference, Instruction, and Collection Development
  • Provide reference service (some evening and weekend hours) and maintain a working knowledge of print and electronic reference sources.
  • Contribute to the Library’s bibliographic instruction program, which may include teaching and developing materials for discipline specific library sessions, a one-credit Library Resources course, or workshops.
  • Take part in collection development and perform campus departmental liaison duties.
Scholarship and Service
  • Participate in scholarship, faculty governance, and service as a tenure-track library faculty member.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
· Master’s degree earned from an ALA-accredited Library/Information Science program.
· Demonstrated knowledge and experience with current trends in serials acquisition, organization and content delivery.
· Demonstrated knowledge and experience with current trends related to interlibrary loan and document delivery.
· Supervisory experience.
· Strong analytic and problem solving skills with attention to detail.
· Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
· Strong service orientation.
· Flexibility in adapting to change.
· Ability and desire to work as part of collegial team and with diverse populations.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Second master’s (minimum) required for tenure. Preferred at hiring, but may be earned during first years of employment.
· Experience with link resolvers (i.e., SFX) and integrated library systems (i.e., Voyager).
· Experience with creating, interpreting, and analyzing data and reports for use in collection decision making.
· Experience with OCLC, ILLiad, WorldCat, and related interlibrary loan systems.
· Experience in budget management.
· Reference and instruction experience.
· Experience in an academic library.
Appointment Date: Academic year appointment beginning August 27, 2012.
Terms of Employment: Tenure-track position with faculty rank and status (rank and salary dependent on experience and qualifications); academic year (9 month) appointment. Short term summer contracts are available subject to funding.
